An armoire is a standing closet for storing clothes. The most popular style of armoire we sell has two door and two drawers. Amish Furniture Factory offers a variety of handmade wooden armoires, also known as wardrobes, available in differing styles, sizes and types. A more accurate definition of a wardrobe is an armoire without drawers, but having two large doors with storage shelves above and below the hanging rod. We also, however, carry several armoires with drawers.

Wooden armoires have proven to be popular due to their unique blend of versatile storage capacity. The two large doors at the top of the armoire offer ample room to store various types of clothing hanging from a rod, while storing folded, loose clothing pieces, or other dressing accessories on the bottom surface. This space can also have a series of pull out shelves for additional surface storage. The two drawers at the bottom of the Amish armoires offer additional storage space for more folded or loose clothing pieces or dressing accessories. Other variations of the classic armoire are available, such as those with three or four drawers as opposed to two drawers.

The jewelry armoire is another popular type armoire design used for storing, as its name implies, jewelry. Jewelry armoires are commonly smaller in size and less costly than a full size armoire or wardrobe. The basic layout of a jewelry armoire consists of a series of vertically running drawers combined with two or more narrow doors on the side from which necklaces or chain type jewelry can be stored. Not all jewelry armoires have narrow side doors, but have vertically running drawers in their place.
Like most Amish furniture pieces,

Amish armoires and wardrobes are available in Mission, Shaker, Queen Anne, and Contemporary styles, or a blend of those styles. Historically, oak was the most popular wood type used in the construction of wooden armoires and wardrobes, but today, walnut, maple, cherry, and hickory are used.
